Homework for the Week of November 1 - 6th, due on November 6th

   Hello Everybody!

This week our homework is going to be due on Friday, November 6th. Your students will get their homework folder and book back on Monday. If they want to work on their homework ahead of time, please just glue or staple the pages with their work into their homework notebook.

I would also like to send out another reminder to the grownups that the students will begin to use their headphones in class more often, so if you are able to send them to school with a pair of over the ear headphones over the next few weeks that would be lovely.

Friday, November 6th will be the day of our next spelling test. The words can be found below:

Spelling Tasks: I can recognize and spell words with short vowel patterns using i, o, and u.

  1. Read your spelling word list and make sure you understand the meaning of each word.

  2. Write each of your spelling words forwards 2 times, and then backwards once.

  3. Choose 8 of your spelling words, and write a sentence for each word. Put a circle around the spelling word in the sentence. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can use two words in one sentence.
Reading Task: I can read silently with increasing confidence and accuracy.
  1. 10 minutes of reading is expected to be completed every night.

  2. Continue to explore the Epic! reading website at home. The link can be found on the Resources page of the blog.
Math Tasks: I can compare and order numbers to 1000, and I can represent and describe numbers to 1000, concretely, pictorially and symbolically.
  1. Find 5 different 1, 2, or 3 digit numbers around your house. You could find them on food labels, in books, anywhere. Choose if you would like to write your numbers in order from smallest to largest, or largest to smallest. I have put some examples of places you could find numbers below:

This cereal box has the number 100 on it, among other numbers on the side (Nutrition Panel), and bottom where it says the weight of the box contents.

A measuring cup has several different numbers on it that you can use for this activity.

  2. Label the following numbers as even or odd. Remember, you only need to look at the digit in the ones place value spot to determine if the entire number is even or odd.

    102, 847, 394, 33, 393, 476, 90, 108, 836, 331.

  3. Write the following numbers in expanded form. I have shown 2 examples below:

    Examples: 387 = 300 + 80 + 7
                        609 = 600 + 9

    394, 940, 87, 982, 28.

  4. Continue to work on Mathletics. I highly encourage the students to log in to Mathletics and attempt some of the activities, to practice and reinforce some of the concepts that we have learned in class.
Optional Tasks:
  1. Check out the blogs for both Music and French. I have placed the links on the Resource page of this blog.
As per usual, please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!! P.S. Do not forget to set your clocks back an hour today!
