Homework for the Week of November 7, due on Friday, November 13

Hello Everybody!

This week our homework is going to be due on Friday, November 13th. This week is a little bit different from other weeks so I have a few reminders. Due to Remembrance Day being on Wednesday, we will have no school that day. We will also have a formal dress day on both Monday and Tuesday this week.

I would also like to send out another reminder to the grownups that the students have started to use their headphones in class every week, so if you are able to send them to school with a pair of headphones as soon as possible, that would be lovely.

Friday, November 13th will be the day of our next spelling test. The words can be found below:

Spelling Tasks: We can recognize and spell words with er and or sounds.

  1. Read your spelling word list and make sure you understand the meaning of each word.

  2. Write each word in your homework notebook and circle the part of the word that has the "er" or "or" sound in it. Challenge: find 3 words, not on any of the spelling lists with these sounds in them.

  3. Choose 8 of your spelling words, and write a sentence for each word. Put a circle around the spelling word in the sentence. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can use two words in one sentence.
Reading Task: We can read silently with increasing confidence and accuracy.
  1. 10 minutes of reading is expected to be completed every night.

  2. Continue to explore the Epic! reading website at home. The link can be found on the Resources page of the blog.
Math Tasks: We can represent and describe numbers to 1000, concretely, pictorially and symbolically.
  1. Represent each of the following numbers in 3 different ways. Remember our anchor chart from the classroom, some possible ways you could represent your number could be in words, with dice, using a picture, base ten blocks, a number story, expanded form, on a number line, or some other creative ways you may think of.

    15, 984, 384, 87, 2, 700

  2. Are the following numbers represented correctly? If they are not represented correctly, fix them.

  3. Continue to work on Mathletics.
Music Task:
  1. Please practice the song at the following link for our Grade 3 November assembly. https://musicplayonline.com/?s=I+believe&meter_stat
As per usual, please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!!
