Homework for the week of March 15 - 19, 2021 - due on Friday, March 19, 2021

 Hello!

This week our homework will be due on Friday, March 19! Remember, if you finish it before then, feel free to hand it in early. Wednesday this week is also a casual dress day as it is St. Patrick's Day. Please remember to wear green on Wednesday.

Spelling Tasks: We can recognize and spell words with ge, gi, gy and hard "g" spelling patterns.

Friday, March 19 will be the day of our next spelling test. The words can be found below.

  1. Read your spelling word list and make sure you understand the meaning of each word.

  2. Write all of your words once with your writing (dominant) hand, and once with your non-writing (non-dominant) hand.

  3. Sort all of your words into a list that fits with its pattern. An example is below. I sorted the first 3 words from the red list.

    ge                 gi              gy         hard g
    stage          ginger                       game

  4. Choose 10 of your spelling words, and write a sentence for each word. Put a circle around the spelling word in the sentence. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can use two words in one sentence.
Reading Tasks: We can read silently with increasing confidence and accuracy.
  1. 20 minutes of reading is expected to be completed every night.

  2. Write about the genre of the book(s) you are reading. What genre is it and what makes you think that? If it could be more than one genre, which other genres could it be?
Math Tasks: We can demonstrate an understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  1. Choose 4 problems from each column to solve. That means you need 4 addition problems, 4 subtraction problems, 4 multiplication problems and 4 division problems. Please show your work.

  2. Write two of your own word problems and solve them. They can use addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. If you need some ideas you can look back at past homework assignments. I will also leave a few examples below.
Miss. Shevchuk ate 37 cookies. She was still hungry so she at 28 more. How many did she eat altogether? Miss. Shevchuk would like to give 5 stickers to the first 3 students who hand in their homework next week. How many stickers is she giving out altogether?
Please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!

Miss. Shevchuk

 wish me luck
