March 19, 2021 - Learning Update

 Good Afternoon Everyone!

We managed to squeeze in a lot of fun learning activities this week in Room 8. Below is our learning update!

Language Arts - This week in Language Arts we started to work on our next character project relating to kindness. We focused on how we can be kind to others and to ourselves.

Math - This week in Math, we learned how to solve algebra equations. We discovered different strategies to solve the mystery number in each equation.

Science - This week in Science we continued with our Building and Testing Materials unit. We wrapped up the testing portion of the unit and moved onto the building section. We looked at the difference between human-made and natural structures and we started to build our first project, a pencil holder that can hold 3 pencils and 1 pair of scissors. We will continue to build this next week.

Social Studies - This week we began our major Social Studies Cultural Research Project. Each student chose a country they would like to research. They will answer questions about their country and compare it to the 4 countries we have been learning about all year, Ukraine, Tunisia, India and Peru. We will be working on this project for the next few weeks.

Health - In health class, we continued looking at the area of relationships. This week we looked at appropriate ways to express our feelings.

Do not forget that the virtual bookfair is still happening if you would like to purchase anything. Friday next week will also be a casual day to celebrate Holi. Please see the email from Mrs. Taylor for more information. Have a fantastic weekend everyone.
