Homework for the week of November 22 - due on Friday, November 27

Hello Everybody!

This week our homework is going to be due on Friday, November 27.

Spelling Tasks: We can recognize and spell words with contractions.

Friday, November 27 will be the day of our next spelling test. The words can be found below:

  1. Read your spelling word list and make sure you understand the meaning of each word.

  2. Write each word on your spelling list 3 times. Then I would like you to write the contraction as the two words that make it up 3 times. The following list might help you out. An example can also be seen below:

    EXAMPLE:
isn't     isn't     isn't                         is not     is not    is not

  3. Choose 8 of your spelling words, and write a sentence for each word. Put a circle around the spelling word in the sentence. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can use two words in one sentence.
Reading Tasks: We can read silently with increasing confidence and accuracy.
  1. 10 minutes of reading is expected to be completed every night.

  2. Continue to explore the Epic! reading website at home.
Math Tasks: We can describe and apply mental mathematics strategies for adding two 2-digit numerals.
  1. Practice some of the addition strategies we have learned in class to solve the following questions. We are going to be learning one more addition strategy on Monday, so you may want to wait until then to start your math homework.

  2. Miss. Shevchuk had a farm. On the farm, she had chickens, bumblebees, and cows. Altogether Miss. Shevchuk counts 20 legs. How many of each animal might she have?

Remember, cows have 4 legs, chickens have 2 legs, and bumblebees have 6 legs.

Try and find at least two different solutions to this problem. Please solve this problem using pictures, a word sentence and a number sentence.

  3. I have recently added Mrs. Hull's blog link to our blog on the Resources page. Take some time to explore the different games and activities that she has posted on her blog.
Music Task:
  1. Please practice the song at the following link for our Grade 3 November assembly. https://musicplayonline.com/?s=I+believe&meter_stat . This song will be filmed tomorrow.
As per usual, please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!!

Miss. Shevchuk
very good
