Mrs. Taylor sent out a very detailed email on Friday, December 18 with some important information regarding general school items, as well as online learning in January. We are going to be online learning in January from January 5 - 8, because Monday, January 4 is a PD day. I look forward to seeing everybody in the new year, even if we have to start out in a virtual manner.

I hope everybody enjoys their winter break! Please stay safe and healthy!

Friday, December 18 - Celebration Update

Hello Folks,

I just wanted to post a reminder about our classroom winter celebration that will be happening on Friday, December 18. If students would like to bring a treat for themselves they may. They will not be allowed to bring a treat for the entire class. This rule is in place because of Covid-19. This is also the same rule that was in place for our October celebration.

Thank you for understanding. I am looking forward to a wonderful rest of our week. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.

Thank you!

Homework for the Week of December 6 - 11 - due on Friday, December 11

Hello Everybody!

This week our homework is going to be due on Friday, December 11.

Spelling Tasks: We can recognize and spell words with oy and oi patterns.

Friday, December 11 will be the day of our next spelling test. The words can be found below:

  1. Read your spelling word list and make sure you understand the meaning of each word.

  2. Write each word on your spelling list using a marker or pencil crayon or pen of your favourite colour. Write each word 3 times.

  3. Choose 8 of your spelling words, and write a sentence for each word. Put a circle around the spelling word in the sentence. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can use two words in one sentence.
Reading Tasks: We can read silently with increasing confidence and accuracy.
  1. 10 minutes of reading is expected to be completed every night.
Math Tasks: We can describe and apply mental mathematics strategies for subtracting two 2-digit numerals. We can demonstrate an understanding of addition and subtraction of numbers with answers to 1000 (limited to 1-, 2- and 3-digit numerals), concretely, pictorially and symbolically.
  1. Practice some of the subtraction strategies we have learned in class to solve the following questions. Please show your work. I took off marks last week if you just simply wrote the answer. Use your favourite strategy for the following questions:

  2. Solve the following word problems using a picture, word sentence and number sentence. Remember, your picture can be a picture using base ten blocks. This may be a lot easier to draw instead of drawing 61 oranges or 91 marbles.

As per usual, please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!!
