Homework for the Week of May 2 - 7, 2021 - due on Friday, May 7, 2021

Hello!

This week our homework will be due on Friday, April 30.

Spelling Tasks: We can recognize and spell words with tion, sion, ment, er, and est suffixes.

Friday, May 7 will be the day of our next spelling test. The words can be found below.

  1. Read your spelling word list and make sure you understand the meaning of each word.

  2. Complete 2 of the following activities. I would like you to try and choose 2 that you have not completed before.

  3. Use all 12 of your spelling words, and write a sentence for each word. Put a circle around the spelling word in the sentence. Try to challenge yourself and see if you can use two words in one sentence.
Reading Tasks: We can read silently with increasing confidence and accuracy. We can identify different story elements in books that we are reading and write about them.
  1. 20 minutes of reading is expected to be completed every night.

  2.  I would like you to create a character map of the main character in the book you are reading. What have you learned about them? What do they look like? How do they act? What do they like to do? I have posted an example below.

Math Tasks: We can use non-standard units to measure how long it will take to do something.
  1. Use the following non-standard unit chart and estimate how long you think it would take you to do the following activities.

  2. Choose 5 activities at your house. Estimate how long it will take to do them using the non-standard units below. After your estimate, complete the activity and measure record how long it actually took using non-standard units. After, write about how close you were to your estimate.

  3. Make up 3 of your own non-standard units. They can measure using seconds, minutes or hours. My example for one is below.

    Teeth Brushing = 2 minutes.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!
