Learning Tasks for Wednesday, May 12

 Literacy

  1. Create your own setting or choose one from this video. You may draw your setting if you would like but we will be doing this in detail on Friday. Answer the following questions in full sentences about your setting in your writing notebook:

Where is the setting? (i.e. city, house, forest, castle, outer space, etc.)
Is it in the past, present or future?
What is the weather like? Temperature?
What could you see? hear? taste? touch? smell?
    Who is there?
What time of day is it?
    Describe your setting.
Any other details you might want to include.

  2. Getting to know a character helps us understand why they do certain things in a story and helps us learn how to create characters when we write our own stories. Create a character map for the main character in a story you are reading. An example is posted below. Please complete this activity in your writing notebook.

 Math

  1. Rainbow math practice! Answer 3 questions from each colour. You should be answering 18 questions altogether. Solve the questions using a method of your choice. Please write both the question and answer into your math notebook.

You will show me this task during attendance tomorrow morning.

  2. If you would like, write your own addition word problem and solve it using pictures, a number sentence and a word sentence.

 Other Tasks

  1. Remember to keep working on your homework for the week and check out the FrenchMusic, and Phys. Ed. blogs for extra optional activities.
